The Director of Public Works participates in a team environment and is responsible for the overall management and administration of the Public Works Department, which includes streets and alleys, parks, water (treatment and distribution), sanitary sewer, building & grounds maintenance and others. Work includes ensuring the efficient and effective use of equipment and personnel, developing and administering budgets, policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of employees and the public, performing procurement and contracting functions, responding to personnel management issues, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to department and division operations. The successful applicant will need a strong understanding of technology and will be responsible for implementing practices of asset management, inventory control and citizen response. Public relations is an important feature for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; at least 10 years of experience in Public Works operations, or any combination of education and work experience to meet the essential job duties for this position. Possession of a valid Iowa Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Water treatment and distribution grade 2 license preferred, or the ability to obtain licenses within the allowed timeframe. Salary $75,000+/- DOQ with full benefits.

POLICE CHIEF
Applications are currently being accepted by the City of Camanche, Iowa for the upcoming civil service examination for Police Chief. Application packets may be obtained on the City’s website at www.camancheia.org or by calling City Hall at (563)259-8342. Applicants are subject to a background investigation, drug testing as provided by Iowa law, and must be a nonuser of tobacco products attested to by written agreement. The Chief shall have had a minimum of five years of experience in a public law enforcement agency or three years of experience in a public law enforcement agency plus two years of comparable experience or educational training. Salary is commensurate with experience and an excellent benefits package is offered. Deadline for accepting applications is 4:00 P.M., February 19, 2021.
